We are Sue and Bunchy each working with various items from Shetland’s land and beaches. We spend time walking after storms to see what the sea has brought for us to use in our work.
We produce a variety of products using materials from Shetland. Wool is felted and dyed in Shetland and formed into a variety of textile creations. Viking hand puppets, mystical mermaids, scary Trows are some of the more unusual items. Individually designed bags and hats reflect the ever-changing colours of the Shetland landscape. These pieces often include treasures from the shore. Bunchy and Sue are, at present, developing design work into individually unique hangings and framed textiles using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. We also make jewellery items.
Sue decorates driftwood and other wooden blanks with pokerwork, burning aspects of the Shetland culture onto her pieces. Viking imagery, sheep and Celtic knotwork are amongst her designs.
